The Titans exploded for 21 unanswered points to come from behind and break open their game against the Seahawks, and DeMarco Murray broke loose for a 75-yard touchdown, which was the longest Seattle has given up in eight years. The Texans came very close to an upset of the New England Patriots as a double-digit underdog, and they are firmly committed, it seems, to DeShaun Watson at quarterback, after he provided 301 yards passing and of course, his “escapability.”
Whatever Marcus Mariota is going to do in this game, he’s going to have to stay clear from the clutches of Jadeveon Clowney, who had a couple of sacks last week against New England. And what is kind of scary is that JJ Watt hasn’t really begun to strut his stuff just yet. Watt does not have a sack, but you know they are coming.
What Tennessee has to do is make sure that Watson does not escape in the pocket, because as a rookie who was operating quite a bit on instinct, this is where he can really make things happen. In fact, he had a 49-yard touchdown run against Cincinnati a couple of weeks ago and has averaged 8.3 yards per carry. If Tennessee can contain him, he’ll make his mistakes; he threw two interceptions against the Patriots.
What’s encouraging about the Titans is that there top two runners – DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry – are both averaging five yards per carry and they seem to be sharing the ball, which is what head coach Mike Mularkey was looking for. This is now a balanced running attack, and together they provide balance to the overall attack.
