Neither the Pittsburgh Steelers nor the Cleveland Browns are too happy right now, because both of them are on losing streaks. As far as the Browns are concerned, that losing streak has lasted all season long, and there is serious speculation as to whether this team can go 0-16 for the season. For the Steelers, it’s a matter of trying to stay alive in the playoff race as they take the field on Sunday at 1 PM ET at First Energy Stadium in Cleveland. Steelers vs Browns – CJ’s Take:
Pittsburgh looked pretty good for a while against the Dallas Cowboys last week, but they were victimized by a late drive in which Ezekiel Elliott ran for 32-yard touchdown to beat them with nine seconds remaining. So they have now lost four games in a row. The Browns had a rather uninspired effort against the Baltimore Ravens last time out, losing 28-7, and there are obviously a lot of questions as to whether the future really resides with quarterback Cody Kessler, who was replaced during the game.
The Browns have now given up 25 touchdown passes on the season, while Ben Roetjlisberger, quarterback of the Steelers, has thrown 20. What the Browns are going to do about wide receiver Antonio Brown, has caught 69 passes for 831 yards, is anyone’s guess.
It looked very much as it Pittsburgh was coming out very fired up against Dallas last week, after couple of players had made themselves heard during the week. Le’Veon Bell, the running back, had talked about how poor the team’s practice habits were, while the aforementioned Brown, who has seven touchdown catches, talked about how he was getting an unusual amount of attention from enemy secondaries, because perhaps the other wideouts were not stepping up and doing their job.
Well, Brown, even with double coverage most of the game, caught 14 passes for 154 yards. And Roethlisberger did a real number on the Dallas secondary, throwing for 408 yards. What could he possibly do against Cleveland, which allows eight yards an attempt and ranks 31st in points allowed? That is certainly a question for VietBet patrons to ponder.
Cleveland look like it was going to establish a pretty good running game at the season’s outset, and it’s not as if they have really petered out in that respect, but they aren’t running with as much authority as they were in the early stages. Isaiah Crowell still has solid stats, as he is averaging 4.6 yards per carry, and Duke Johnson has been a pretty good complement to him. And when you look at it, Cody Kessler has been a good caretaker of the football, with only one interception in 178 throws. But this low-risk approach also means that the Browns aren’t all that threatening when it comes to stretching the field. They hope that Corey Coleman, the rookie out of Baylor who has recently returned to the lineup, can help things out in that respect.
Next up for both teams:
- Pittsburgh at Indianapolis Thursday, November 24
- Cleveland home to New York Sunday, November 27
