Rams vs Seahawks Odds – Betting Preview
The Rams had a great back-and-forth battle with the Philadelphia Eagles last week, but even though Philadelphia had to turn to backup quarterback Nick Foles in the absence of injured Carson Wentz in the fourth quarter, they still pulled out a 43-35 win at the Coliseum. That had to hurt the Rams and head coach Sean McVay, who had an opportunity to take a two-game advantage in the division. The defense, stewarded by famed coordinator Wade Phillips, needs to improve on its effort, as allowed 29 first downs, 455 yards and 39 minutes of possession to the NFC East leaders. The Rams are 9-4 straight-up and 8-5 against the football pointspread.
They hold a one-game lead over the Seahawks (8-5 straight-up, 5-7-1 ATS), but because Seattle came to Tinseltown and beat the Rams 16-10 earlier in the season, they will win the tiebreaker. The Seahawks blasted Philadelphia in their building two weeks ago, but suffered a 30-24 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars this past weekend. They got 271 passing yards out of Russell Wilson, but he also threw three interceptions. And Seattle converted only two of their nine chances on third down.
The Rams made some mistakes in the loss to the Eagles, including a couple of very foolish penalties, but they have a chance to regroup and they will have to. They’ll be healthier on offense, as Robert Woods, who set to sit out the last game with a shoulder injury, is likely to return to the lineup. But on defense, they will be missing safety Kayvon Webster, who ruptured his Achilles tendon.
And that is not nearly as banged up as Seattle could be on the defensive side coming into this game. They were already missing defensive end Cliff Avril, and recently safety Kam Chancellor and cornerback Richard Sherman went down with injuries. At the moment it is highly questionable as to whether their two standout linebackers, Bobby Wagner and KJ Wright will be able to play in this game. When you take all of those guys away, it really is no longer the fearsome defense everybody talks about. They were not able to force a mistake out of Jacksonville quarterback Blake Bortles last week, and that became a problem.
