The Los Angeles Rams went into last week’s games atop the NFC West division, although no one expected them to be there for very long. Yes, they faltered at home against the Buffalo Bills, but can they experience a better fate against the Detroit Lions team that knocked off one of the NFL’s few unbeaten teams last week? That will be the scenario as these clubs meet up on Sunday at 1 PM ET at Ford Field in the Motor City. This is a game that will be televised on Fox Network regionally, and VietBet patrons have a big advantage, as they can watch the game and place wagers on it at the same time, using dynamic odds provided by the state-of-the-art software of Live Betting Ultra.

Rams vs Lions – CJ’s Take:
The Lions have to be commended for their 24-23 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles last week, although in the latter stages they seemed to have done their best to blow it. They went into halftime with an 11-point lead, but then saw the Eagles come back to go ahead. Than the Lions got a late field goal and forced Carson Wentz into his first interception as a professional to seal the victory. They also took advantage of 14 Philadelphia penalties and we are not sure they will enjoy the same “gifts” this week against the Rams.
Los Angeles simply had a hard time containing Buffalo running back Shady McCoy, who rambled for 150 yards, but the big question is whether they have to worry about stopping a ground attack this week, with the Lions rather ineffective in that area of pursuit.
It would really help the Rams’ cause if they could get the kind of production they were expecting out of Todd Gurley. This is a guy who burst into the league with a flourish, and wound up winning the offensive rookie of the year award and going to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl. If you watched this year’s edition of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” you saw that Jeff Fisher was intent on making Gurley the centerpiece of the offense, and he really have little choice, as he was using quarterback Case Keenum as more or less a “seat-warmer” until rookie Jared Goff, the first overall pick in the draft, was ready to play.
But Gurley has underachieved; in fact, he has averaged only 2.6 yards per carry on the season, and it is very difficult to operate when you are doing business like that. If there is one saving grace that VietBet patrons should know about, it’s that the Rams at least outgained their opponent last week; that is the first time in the last 13 games that has happened. But Keenum, who is known for being able take care of the football, was intercepted twice, and that kind of spoiled LA’s advantage in possession, as they held the ball for more than 35 1/2 minutes.
Detroit only had 244 yards of offense last week, so that has to be an area of concern, particularly because they are almost undoubtedly going to travel by air a lot more than over land. Can we expect more from Golden Tate and Marvin Jones, who had only 76 yards in receptions between them last week? Head coach Jim Caldwell and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter definitely hope so.
Next up for both teams:
- Los Angeles home to New York Sunday, October 23
- Detroit home to Washington Sunday, October 23
