Right now, things may be in kind of a holding pattern as far as the Miami Dolphins are concerned. During a training camp drill, quarterback Ryan Tannehill sprinted out to his right, and something just happened. The same knee which suffered a partial ACL tear last season, causing him to miss the final three games of the regular season and playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, got tweaked once again. And as of this writing, it is known that he will be out, but for how long remains to be seen. There is some fear the part of management that he may have to undergo season-ending surgery. And that would change the outlook, in all probability, for VietBet customers who are looking to place wagers on the total number of wins for this AFC wild-card squad.

Adam Gase, by all accounts, was very successful in his first season at the helm of an NFL team. He had previously been an offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears, and quarterbacks who were connected to him in both of those jobs are rumored to be in the running to take over for Tannehill if the Dolphins indeed need a full-time option. Brock Osweiler, who played under Gase in Denver, and started eight games in place of Peyton Manning during the Broncos’ Super Bowl season, is available, because although Cleveland made a trade for him with Houston in the off-season, he does not appear to be prominent part of the Browns’ plans. But he knows the system, as does Jay Cutler, who posted some of the best numbers of his career under Gase with the Bears and retired with the intention of going into the broadcast booth. With the right kind of situation, he might be enticed to hold off that retirement a little longer.
Keep in mind that all the other elements are still in place; Jay Ajayi, who ranked third in the league in yardage per game and had three different 200-yard games as a running back, will be the starter from the get-go. Whether he can duplicate what he did last season is another question. Gase is looking for a genuine breakout season on the part of DaVante Parker, who came in as a first-round draft pick and has shown some flashes of what he can do. Parker had 744 receiving yards last year, but he has the potential to make for a very dangerous tandem with Jarvis Landry, who, after 94 catches and 1136 yards, has established himself as one of the elite receivers in the game. Throw in Kenny Stills, who has big-play potential (17.3 yards per catch, nine touchdowns) and whoever is tossing the football for the Dolphins has some people at their disposal. And Gase is hoping to revive the career tight end Julius Thomas, who came from the Jaguars and made the Pro Bowl in Gase’s Denver offense. Of course, he had Manning throwing to him at the time.
Defensively, this is obviously a team that should be able to rush the passer, getting pressure from both the outside with Cameron Wake and the inside with Ndomukong Suh. Defensive end William Hayes was a nice acquisition, as was linebacker Lawrence Timmons, so there would appear to be no reason why the Dolphins could not challenge for playoff spot again, even if they had to go with long-time backup Matt Moore behind center.
