Aaron Rodgers Wants to Pick On Jets’ Thin Secondary

The New York Jets are a team that may possess some of the components that are necessary to make things uncomfortable for the Green Bay Packers. But that is not going to happen if they don’t tighten things up, because they played rather sloppy football last week. On Sunday they will travel to Lambeau Field in NFL betting action that kicks off at 4:25 PM ET.
The Jets looked pretty strong defensively as they defeated the Oakland Raiders 19-14, but they also committed eleven penalties, and it is very tough to beat a team like Green Bay when you do things to beat yourself. And this week’s opponent at quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, should be considerably more dangerous than Derek Carr, who was making his NFL debut with Oakland last week.
Meanwhile, Green Bay had a tough time of it in dealing with the crowd noise and a charged-up Seattle Seahawks team, and went down to a 36-16 defeat. They allowed Seattle to rush for 207 yards, which is music to the ears of Rex Ryan. whose Jets controlled the ball in the process of piling up 212 yards on the ground last Sunday.

There probably weren’t many people expecting something spectacular out of Rodgers against Seattle, and they certainly didn’t get it. He was solid, with 23 completions in 33 attempts, but he averaged only 5.7 yards per attempt. The Seattle secondary that he faced is admittedly nastier and deeper than the one he will encounter on Sunday. The Jets have gone through their share of injury problems, among other things. Dexter McDougle is out for the year. Dee Milliner has been out. Dimitri Patterson didn’t show up for the pre-season game against the Giants and was eventually cut. Milliner is apparently going to be available for this game, but he probably won’t start.

This defense, which allowed just 158 yards last week (25 on the ground) won’t put up those kinds of numbers again, but should keep him in the game for a while. Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson are outstanding from the edges, and Bulaga is going to be under fire. The new additions on offense – Chris Johnson and Eric Decker – look like they are going to be useful contributors. Gee, maybe the Jets actually have a chance here?
