The Patriots are on a six-game winning streak, and they have allowed only six points over the last two games. Admittedly, however, they were playing offenses that were none too potent. Last week it was 41-3 over the Jets, but this week they are facing a team that has won nine out of its last 10. The Dolphins, who are 10-5 straight-up and 9-6 ATS, are going with backup quarterback Matt Moore, who has filled in ably in the absence of Ryan Tannehill, who hurt his knee. Moore has averaged 9.7 yards per attempt, which, well, adds up to a higher quarterback rating, Al be it in an abbreviated stint, then Tom Brady, who has a lot of glittering stats of his own.
The Dolphins had a big scare last week, but they were able to beat the Buffalo Bills 34-31 in overtime to not only take the first step in clinching a playoff spot, but also end the Buffalo coaching career of Rex Ryan, who was fired after the game. When the Denver Broncos lost to Kansas City on Sunday night, Miami clinched its birth as a wild-card. So theoretically, there is nothing on the line for them here. But they felt as if they could have beaten the Patriots in the second week of the season if they had just gotten off to a better start. They almost overcame a huge deficit the first time around but lost 31-24. They have also beaten New England the last three times in this stadium.
