It is not unreasonable for people who follow NBA basketball to assume that Thursday night so-called “showdown” between the San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors might wind up a little anti-climactic because the Spurs might not be putting a lot of importance on the game at all. Then again, maybe they are. After all, they are still theoretically alive for the #1 seed in the Western Conference, which would bring home-court advantage through the playoffs. And home-court is something very valuable to the Spurs, who have yet to lose at AT&T Arena this season. Game time is 10:35 PM ET at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, and Vietbet customers can place wagers while the game is in progress through the facilities provided by Live Betting Extra.

San Antonio, in a sense, has been put in the background while Golden State chases the record of 72 victories in the season that was set by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. But the Spurs have a glittering 65-12 ledger, and only 18 previous NBA teams have won that many games. They also haven’t been all that bad against the NBA pointspread, going 43-34 ATS, although it should be mentioned that they have dropped five of their last six games against the number.
The question on the minds of many people coming into Thursday’s game is whether San Antonio is going to be resting some of its starters were limiting their playing time considerably. That’s something we really might not know until right before the opening tip.
As we come into this contest, San Antonio looks like a team that is taking care of the ball a lot better than Golden State; in fact, they have averaged only 12.3 turnovers over their last six contests, while Golden State has had butter-fingers lately, averaging 18.2 turnovers over that same stretch, and they committed 24 miscues against the Minnesota Timberwolves a couple of nights ago in losing a 124-117 overtime decision that severely hurt their chances to set the all-time wins record.
Here’s an interesting thing for Vietbet patrons to look at – both of these teams have shot 48.7% from the field, and both of them have allowed the opposition to shoot 43.6%. Golden State, at 41.7%, is better from three-point range, but San Antonio has its own sharpshooters, for certain. One of them is Kawhi Leonard, who was right behind Steph Curry in terms of accuracy on triples, hitting 45% of his attempts. Both of these teams play defense, but San Antonio has the top Defensive Rating in the league, with four players among the top eight when it comes down to the individual rating – Tim Duncan (second), Leonard, last year’s defensive player of the year (third), LaMarcus Aldridge (seventh) and Danny Green (eighth). Again, the only speculation as to how much any of those people will actually play in this game, along with the likes of Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker.
When San Antonio shoots three-pointers, they have a tendency to do it after more ball distribution. In fact, 91% of their triples come as a result of an assist, while only 55% of their two-pointers do. The Spurs’ record on the road is not mind blowing; it is “only” 26-12 straight-up, and they have compiled only a 2-5 ATS record in their last seven as the visitor. The last time they were in Oakland, they did not use Tim Duncan and were quite error-prone, getting blown out 120-90 by a charged-up Warriors team.
