NBA Betting fans know that the Sacramento Kings have not made the playoffs for a while, and frankly, they face a bit of a dilemma, in that their best player, who presumably would give them their greatest chance of making it to the post-season, may also be potentially their biggest headache. DeMarcus Cousins is a player who could real off 25 points and 15 rebounds on any given night. There is no doubt about his talent, but he has not always been the most mature individual in the world. When Vietbet customers saw that the Kings made their second coaching change of the 2014-15 season by bringing in veteran mentor George Karl, they also heard a lot about how Karl was interested in building the team around Cousins.
Ownership afforded Karl authority over trade and draft decisions, but apparently a lot of that was based on the idea that Karl was really committed to Cousins. But apparently they found out that really wasn’t the case. Karl quickly became disenchanted with his big man, and spent much of the time after his hiring trying to build some consensus within the organization for trading Cousins away. And now there is big-time drama in Sacramento, as reportedly owner Vivek Ranadive is trying to come up with a reason to fire his head coach for “cause.”

But it’s a pretty tough proposition to give that kind of personnel authority to a coach, then question what he wants to do with it. But this franchise is apparently very committed to using Cousins as a cornerstone. It is generally known throughout the NBA that Cousins had a great deal to do with the firing of Paul Westphal, who was trying to bring him into line during his rookie season. Cousins also may not have been a very big fan of Mike Malone, who was let go despite getting off to a rather respectable 11-13 start last season.
Vlade Divac, Sacramento’s head of basketball operations, has insisted that Cousins will not be traded. So where does that leave the head coach? Well, it would appear that it leaves him “out.” But what kind of message does that send? Would it tell people that Cousins is actually the guy running the show, with the ability to get coaches fired if he wants? That is already the feeling among some Vietbet customers, no doubt.
It is not very often that a team can have someone in the pivot position who was very productive offensively. That’s just the way the NBA is these days. So in a sense, Cousins is a very cherished commodity. But if he is immature and selfish, not to mention a “coach-killer,” is he the kind of player that can get you close to a championship?
We don’t know if there was anything to read into with the Kings’ first-round draft pick, but Willie Cauley-Stein of Kentucky was not expected to go as high as sixth overall. However, he was not a bad choice for a couple of reasons: one is that if Cousins somehow is not in a Sacramento uniform next season, this is the guy who could man the position, at least from a defensive standpoint. Then they would try to get a power forward who can score. On the other hand, if Cousins sticks around, this is a pretty good complement for him, and might enable him to move to the four-spot and not have to worry about defending other centers.
The Kings passed up on Emmanuel Mudiay, the point guard who spent this past season in China. But the truth is, Mudiay kind of passed THEM up; he didn’t even want to be interviewed by the Kings’ brass at the NBA combine and would not work out for the team.
