NBA Betting Hawks vs Cavaliers Game 3 – Hawks Face Early Exit if They Don’t Act Now
By Charles Jay
The Atlanta Hawks have been a major disappointment, to say the least, in the Eastern Conference championship series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and that goes without saying for a team that won 60 games during the regular season but lost twice on its own home floor. Is there anything this club can do to stave off a quick four-game elimination at the hands of Lebron James and his teammates? If their heart has been taken away, they will go away quietly. But if they’ve got some “fight” left in them, they might make a game of it as these teams meet again at 8:30 PM ET at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. Remember that Vietbet customers can continue to wager even after the opening tip, as Live Betting Extra makes all kinds of numbers available while the action is in progress.
Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving was deemed to be unavailable for Game 2, as he had tendinitis in his knee and a foot problem. So the Cavs had to go with Matthew Dellavedova at the point guard spot. This was something Atlanta failed to exploit, as Jeff Teague had another poor shooting night, hitting just five out of his 16 shots, and very little of anything else mattered, because Lebron James took things over once again, with 30 points and 11 assists, as he essentially played all five positions.
Now there are two games at home for the Cavaliers, and they have the luxury of being able to afford Irving some extra rest if they so choose.
In the NBA betting odds that have been posted on Game 3 by the people at Vietbet, Cleveland is a solid home favorite:
Cleveland Cavaliers -9
Atlanta Hawks +9
Over 190 points -110
Under 190 points -110
The fact that these games are low-scoring is something that does not favor the Hawks; that much is certain. They would rather get into a faster tempo and let the ball flow a lot more quickly when they are in the half-court setting on offense. But it was another poor shooting night for Atlanta, and that has to have a lot to do with Cleveland’s defense, which is certainly coming alive in the post-season. The Cavaliers have been the best defensive team in the NBA during the playoffs, and once again they managed to stifle Atlanta from long-range. The Hawks, unbelievably, have shot just 10-49 from beyond the three-point arc, and for a team that was able to take advantage of the three-ball all season long (38%), that is like cutting them off at the knees.
DeMarre Carroll did make it into the starting lineup on Friday, but Vietbet customers saw that he was slowed on offense, as he had only two field goals. But the real downer was the fact that Paul Millsap shot just 2-8 from the floor, and it is essential that if this team can’t hit from the outside, Millsap has to produce. He is the guy who, statistically speaking, helped enable Atlanta to score many more points when he was on the floor then when he was not. In other words, he was the difference-maker, and in this particular instance, his presence just isn’t working.
Atlanta, as a group, has never really been in the position of being this far in the playoffs. Obviously the same can be said for the Cleveland roster, for the most part, but at least the Cavaliers have Lebron. We are really not sure what the reaction of the Hawks is going to be after two straight rather decisive losses at home, the latest of which saw them trailing by 18 points going into the fourth quarter.
