Colts Slightly Favored Over Giants as Manning & Luck Square Off
By Charles Jay
The New York Giants continue to work out things with the new West Coast offense, which means a lot of work for quarterback Eli Manning. On Saturday night they will take on Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts in football betting action that will get underway at 7 PM ET at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The Giants have already played two pre-season games. Last week they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-16, in a game where Manning played very little. The Colts made their debut last Thursday, when they lost 13-10 to the New York Jets, and Matt Hasselbeck, the veteran who once helped take the Seattle Seahawks to the Super Bowl, logged most of the action under center.
In the football betting odds at VietBet, the Colts are the slight favorites:
Ind Colts -2, New York Giants +2,

As Manning goes under center, the Colts will be facing him down with a coupe of members of its defensive backfield who will be seeing their first action of the pre-season. Safety LaRon Landry and cornerback Vontae Davis have been dealing with groin problems, and they were not present during mini-camp at all. They also missed the first two weeks of camp.
Andrew Luck (4-of-5, 53 yards last week) is slated to see more action in this game, and Colts will play it by ear as far as how long they are going to keep him in the ballgame. It might be just a series or two; it might be the entire first quarter. He may or may not have the help of running back Ahmad Bradshaw, who has been wearing a special “no-contact” jersey in practice, after missing the first pre-season game against the Jets.
As VietBet customers have noticed, Luck is going to have a nice set of receivers to work with this season. of course, Reggie Wayne has been a mainstay with the club, and T.Y. Hilton is a speedster and big-play guy. They are joined this season by a former Giant, Hakeem Nicks, so the Colts should be more dangerous through the air this season. Wayne is coming off an operation on his ACL and the Colts are being very careful with him as far as contact is concerned.
Indianapolis is hoping that it will have a sturdier defensive line than it had last season, when the Colts were 26th in the NFL against the run. Football bettors feel as if that is something with the potential to hold Indianapolis back. One of the things they hope will happen is that D’Qwell Jackson, who spent seven years with the Cleveland Browns and should have a tremendous veteran impact at the linebacker position.
The Giants have a former Colt who will likely see considerable time at quarterback in this game. Curtis Painter was one of the signal-callers who had to assume control in Indianapolis in the year when Peyton Manning was out with his neck injury. He is, in effect, switching spots with Ryan Nassib, who has gotten a lot of snaps in the first two games. VietBet patrons saw Painter go 7-for-7 against the Steelers. And the Giants got some great help on the ground, with a 73-yards TD run by Rashad Jennings, along with 35 yards on five carries.
