The Houston Texans traded up to draft quarterback DeShaun Watson last season, and after briefly getting his feet wet, he started producing a lot of points for this team. But then he tore an ACL in practice and missed the rest of the season. Houston’s offense sputtered with Tom Savage at the QB spot, and he is now long gone. With a healthier roster, VietBet customers know that the Texans might be able make a real run at the AFC South championship this season.
Watson, who won a national championship with Clemson, is obviously a multi-talented signal-caller, with 269 yards rushing to go along with his 19 RD passes as a rookie. And his ability to improvise can make up for his inexperience. If for whatever reason he goes down, Houston will have to turn to Brandon Weeden, a former first-round draft pick who washed out in Cleveland, or Joe Webb, who actually one started a playoff game for Minnesota and is also employed in other areas of the field.

On the offensive line, they lost several people, but also made new acquisitions, including Zach Fulton, from the Kansas City Chiefs, and Seantrel Henderson, who played Buffalo last year. Also, Sammie Coates, who played in Cleveland in 2017, is a new pickup who could be a nice fourth receiver for them. DeAndre Hopkins had 96 catches last year, but he needs support, and Will Fuller, though a dangerous deep threat, tends to drop too many passes.
Injuries ravaged the Texans just about everywhere last year, with 21 different players being placed on injured reserve, with thirteen of them being starters. As a result, things unraveled to the point where they posted a 4-12 straight-up record. Obviously, they expect that game-changer JJ Watt and Whitney Merciles are going to be healthier, and Jadeveon Clowney came of age last season (9.5 sacks, Pro Bowl appearance). They have made a positive move in the secondary by signing strong safety Tyrann Mathieu to a contract. Brian Cushing, who has been a Pro Bowl linebacker for this squad, became a free agent and it does not look like he is going to be a Texan this season. The guy who will be making the defensive calls is Romeo Crennel, who’s got a good reputation in that spot and has also been a head coach in Cleveland and Kansas City.
There are some areas in which the Texans could use some help, perhaps at the running back position, where Lamar Miller is adequate but not star quality. D’Onta foreman, the University of Texas alum, could wind up being an answer, but he is coming off an Achilles injury. What they really need to do is to get back up near the top statistically on defense, and obviously stay healthy. Watson can make a lot of things happen for them.
