Carson Palmer, who had been put out by an injury in the middle of last season, has returned, healthy and sharp. The former Heisman Trophy winner has thrown for 1737 yards, which translates to nine yards an attempt. He also has 14 touchdown passes already. One of the things you can usually count on with the Cardinals are that they are going to have an aggressive defense. And indeed, they have been opportunistic, intercepting 11 passes already. When you have people like Patrick Peterson in the backfield, you have a chance to turn almost everything into a big play. This week Peterson will draw a rough assignment, as the ageless Steve Smith lines up for the Ravens. Smith was very iffy for Baltimore last week, but insisted he could play, and play he did. He caught seven passes for 137 yards in a losing cause in a San Francisco. Here is the dilemma for Baltimore: if Peterson is able to blanket Smith and, for all intents and purposes, taken out of the game, the Ravens do not have a lot of alternatives to get down the field.

Can Arizona get a better pass rush going?
