Missouri Pushes Case for SEC Title Game Against Tennessee
By Charles Jay
Believe it or not, the Missouri Tigers still have a chance to appear in the SEC championship game. Not only that, they find themselves in the lead in the East division and in the national rankings as they take on a very tricky game this Saturday, with a visit to Knoxville and Neyland Stadium to face the Tennessee Volunteers, as football betting action kicks off at 7:30 PM ET, televised live on ESPN.
Missouri is 8-2 straight-up, and is 20th in the nation in the college playoff rankings. They are also #19 in the Associated Press bowl and #20 in the coaches poll. Missouri is 6-4 against the football pointspread. Tennessee needs one more victory to be bowl-eligible. They are 5-5 straight-up, and 6-4 against the number.

Last year, Missouri was in the SEC title game against Auburn, and gave their fellow Tigers all they could handle for quite a while. With their 34-27 come-from-behind victory over Texas A&M, which was highlighted by a great goal-line stand late in the fourth quarter, puts them in pretty good position to make a return to a championship game that could really vault them in the national rankings, as well as put them into a major bowl.
Vietbet customers know that this team can really get at the quarterback. Shane Ray, one of the top defensive ends in the country, has 13 sacks on the season. Tennessee lost Justin Worley earlier in the year, and sophomore Joshua Dobbs, who has come in for them, has been erratic. But Dobbs is also the kind of guy they can make things happen with his feet, and this offense has come to life over the last two games, as Tennessee beat South Carolina in overtime 45-42 and then followed that up with a 50-16 rout of Kentucky. With a three-point loss to Georgia and a one-point defeat to Florida that came earlier, you can imagine why Tennessee is considered a dangerous team, as well as the football betting favorite in this game.
Another reason for that, as Vietbet patrons are well aware, is the fact that Missouri is not considered to have played the toughest schedule. For example, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Mississippi and Mississippi State are all absent from that slate. However, one of the things that football bettors must absolutely respect about this club is the fact that they have been undaunted on the road, winning and covering nine straight as the visitor. Maty Mark has demonstrated inconsistency (just 53% completions), but he seemed to rise to the occasion last season against the Volunteers, as he threw three touchdown passes stepping in for then-starting quarterback James Franklin in a 31-3 Missouri romp in which the Tigers had 339 yards rushing. Once again, the big challenge for the Tennessee defense will be to slow down the Mizzou ground attack, which averages 4.6 yards per attempt.
