Kazmir Looks for More Magic on Sunday For A’s
By Charles Jay
We don’t have to beat the subject to death, but the fact of the matter is that a of team with one of the lowest payrolls in the major leagues also has the best record in the majors. We are talking, of course, about the Oakland Athletics, who are holding onto a lead in the American League West over the Los Angeles Angels. If the Angels didn’t go into Saturday’s MLB betting action with the second best record in the game, the A’s would really be cruising along. But they aren’t, and so games like the one they will have on Sunday night against the Texas Rangers are very critical to win, because no would-be title aspirant, much less a division leader, can afford to drop games against the lesser teams.
Texas can safely be classified as a “lesser” team, inasmuch as they came into the weekend looking up in the AL West at the Houston Astros, who have lost 100 games for three straight seasons. If the Rangers have made any progress since executive Nolan Ryan’s forced departure, they certainly haven’t shown it. And losing slugger Prince Fielder hasn’t helped. So they line up with the A’s in baseball betting action at the Ballpark at Arlington beginning at 7 PM ET.
Southpaw Scott Kazmir continues his great comeback story for the Athletics. He is now 11-3 with a 2.32 ERA. The Rangers counter with Miles Mikolas, who has had no success at all with his 1-2 record and 7.48 earned run average.
Over 9 Runs -115
Under 9 Runs -105
No one wants to blow up the ego of Oakland general manager Billy Beane too much, but the fact is that he may be on his way to another division title And he made a great move by bringing aboard Kazmir, who once started the All-Star Game when he was with Tampa Bay and spent last season with the Cleveland Indians. With all of his injury problems, very few people though he could make it back, but he has, and he is a bona fide candidate for the Cy Young Award.
Vietbet customers can see that his WHIP ratio is just 0.99, which means that he has allowed the opposition less than one base runner per inning. His strikeout-walk ratio is sizzling, at 114-28, which is better than 4-to-1. In his last three starts, he has given up just two runs in 21 innings.
Meanwhile, Mikolas has made just four starts, and has been hit hard in three of them. In the worst experience he’s had, he was pelted for nine runs on twelve hits in less than four innings against cross-state rival Houston on July 7. But he was more than serviceable in his last outing, as he held the Yankees to just two runs before leaving the game with one out in the eighth inning.
In terms of MLB betting trends that we can pass onto Vietbet customers, we see that, going into Saturday night’s game, the Rangers have played five straight games under the total, and during those five games there were only 22 runs scored.
If Nikolas doesn’t pitch as well or better than he did last time out, we’re not sure that trend is going to hold up.
